I remember hearing poor quality tapes of this back in the day, and not even bothering to make a copy for myself--it just seemed like a novelty: the Dead playing in a hash bar! (And, yeah, they played lovelight, but I never got too excited about Bob's renditions of Pigpen tunes...or Bob's renditions of blues, R&B, or early rock n' roll songs). But, listening to it now, I realize that not only are the bust-outs in the electric set lots of fun, but the acoustic set is absolutely lovely, with an awesome Bird Song, the Wheel smokes, and this is just a really great show (with or without the space cakes.

great show, great sound
After listening my old soundboard cassette to death, I was pleased to hear the audience recording of this show by Michel the Belgian Deadhead. I highly recommend downloading that recording if you want to burn this show onto CD... I for one prefer its fullness to the dryness of the SBD.
But do yourself a favor and stream this SBD-AUD matrix... Chris Chappell did a good job of mixing the soundboard source to fill in the sonic gaps from the AUD. The end result is a really nice sounding matrix version of this classic show.

I'm afriad to admit
I've loved this show for a long time now. But, I'm afraid I have to admit that I like my old cassette tape version better than this matrix. I'll try to figure out which version that is on the archives an get back to ya.

Heard most of it and like it.
I'm guessing Jerry had a cold or throat problems as you can see he doesn't sing a whole lot in the second set.
oh wait it minute, I get it, it was Bobby's Birthday!! let him have the limelight...nice one fellas.
worth a listen.
